Find a Safe Spot:

• Pull over to a safe location away from traffic.
• If you are on the side of the road, make sure to turn on your hazard lights to alert other drivers.

Gather Necessary Tools:

• Locate your spare tire, jack, and lug wrench in your vehicle.
• If your vehicle has wheel wedges, use them to secure the other tires.

Loosen Lug Nuts:

• Before lifting the vehicle, use the lug wrench to slightly loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire. Do not remove them completely yet.

Position the Jack:

• Refer to your vehicle’s manual to identify the proper lifting points.
• Place the jack beneath the vehicle and begin raising it until the tire is off the ground.

Remove the Flat Tire:

• Fully loosen and remove the lug nuts.
• Carefully take off the flat tire and set it aside.

Install the Spare Tire:

• Align the spare tire with the wheel bolts.
• Put the lug nuts back on and tighten them by hand.

Tighten Lug Nuts with the Wrench:

• Use the lug wrench to securely tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern, but do not overtighten!
• Ensure that the spare tire is properly seated on the wheel hub.

Lower the Vehicle:

• Carefully lower the vehicle with the jack.
• Remove the jack and tighten the lug nuts once more for added security.

Check Tire Pressure:

• Using a tire pressure gauge, verify that the spare tire is adequately inflated.

Stow Equipment and Inspect:

• Place the flat tire, jack, lug wrench, and flat tire back in your vehicle.
• Before driving, inspect the spare tire for any visible damage.
